What is Two Sides?

'Two Sides' is an initiative by companies from the Graphic Communications Value Chain including forestry, pulp, paper, inks and chemicals, pre press, press finishing, publishing and printing.

What is the mission of Two Sides?

The common goal is to promote the responsible production and use of print and paper, and dispel common environmental misconceptions by providing users with verifiable information on why print and paper is an attractive, practical and sustainable communications medium.

A Quick Recap

  • March 2010 - Panel discussions held during Paper2010 discuss how our industry has not effectively told the positive story of paper
  • April 2010 - NPTA Paper Committee begins to explore options on how to address the issue
    • Paper Advocacy Task Force created
  • Summer 2010-  Based upon feedback from members with European ties, NPTA begins talks with Two Sides regarding advocacy efforts in the U.S.
    • Task Force gathers positive feedback from current participants in the Two Sides program   
  • October 2010 - Two Sides submits proposal to NPTA to launch an advocacy initiative in the U.S.
    • Web presentation to Paper Committee/Task Force
  • November 2010 - Two Sides proposal discussed during NPTA Board of Directors meeting 
  • January 2012 - Two Sides launches U.S. Website, www.twosides.us

Two Sides operates through a membership structure. 
Dues are $25 per million of relevant revenue annually:

$1 million in sales = $25
$10 million in sales = $250
$100 million in sales = $2,500                
$1 billion in sales = $25,000
