JANUARY Paperloop, an information provider to the paper, pulp, forest, converting and allied industries, has announced its acquisition of Jacobs Consultancy’s Competitive Cost Benchmarking Group (formerly known as Jacobs-Sirrine and CRS Sirrine’s Competitive Cost Group) with its corresponding “Analytical Cornerstone” product.
Scitex Corporation Ltd, a provider of industrial digital inkjet printing solutions, has signed a definitive share exchange agreement to combine the business of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Scitex Vision Ltd., with that of a venture backed Aprion Digital Ltd. The combined business will operate under the name Scitex Vision, while promoting the Aprion name for its inkjet head technology.
MARCH Missota Paper Co. LLC has acquired and expects to re-start the former Potlatch Paper mill in Brainerd, MN, in March. 
Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation has announced that the company has signed a letter of intent with Jefferson Smurfit Group (JS Group), formerly Smurfit-Stone’s largest shareholder, under which Smurfit-Stone will exchange its European packaging operations and receive JS Group’s 50 percent ownership in Smurfit-MBI, a Canadian packaging business.  When the transactions are completed, Smurfit-Stone will own 100 percent of Smurfit-MBI.
MeadWestvaco Corporation announced that its Consumer & Office Products Group has acquired AMCAL, Inc., a privately held company that designs and supplies licensed calendars, gifts and stationery products.

Kimberly-Clark Europe announced its purchase of International Paper's Klucze tissue business in Poland. JULY The Kellermeyer Company, Toledo, OH announced the acquisition of the Femco Company located in Mishawaka, IN as of July 1, 2003. The Kellermeyer Company is an industrial distributors of paper products, packaging items, and janitorial supplies in the Midwest. Femco is the latest acquisition for the Kellermeyer Company—a janitorial and equipment distributor in Mishawaka.

SEPTEMBER PeopleSoft announced that, following its July 18 acquisition of J.D. Edwards & Company, it has purchased all remaining shares not tendered in PeopleSoft's exchange offer. PeopleSoft initially purchased approximately 105 million of J.D. Edwards outstanding shares through PeopleSoft's exchange offer for J.D. Edwards common stock on July 17, 2003 . The consideration to be paid for each remaining J.D. Edwards share will be $7.05 in cash plus 0.43 of a share of PeopleSoft common stock. Any fractional shares will be paid in cash.
PaperlinX just announced that it has signed a sale and purchase agreement with Buhrmann NV for the acquisition of Buhrmann's Paper Merchanting Division. Completion of the transaction is dependent on approval by Buhrmann's shareholders and regulatory authorities. Based on the forecast timings of these approvals, completion is scheduled for the end of October 2003.

The approval by the US Antitrust Commission is expected by end of November. DECEMBER Transcontinental Inc. today announced the acquisition of CC3, a growing company in the direct marketing industry in the United States . CC3 has a network of eight facilities in Pennsylvania , California and Texas , offering a complete range of direct marketing services through its unique integrated platform. It delivers over 1.5 billion direct marketing pieces a year. This acquisition is the largest in Transcontinental's history in terms of revenues. CC3 was owned by Providence Equity Partners Inc., a private investment firm with over US$5 billion under management.
