to the Packaging Summit
Tarsus will be hosting the annual Packaging Summit Expo and Conference on May 13–15, 2008. The conference expects to attract close to 500 participants and 170 exhibitors, making Packaging Summit 2008 a major networking and educational event for the packaging community. Some of the featured event speakers will be: Paul Lewellen, director of Wal–Mart's senior director of development and Arno Melchior, Global Packaging Director of Rickett Benckiser. NPTA Announces Annual Meeting Keynote Speaker
The NPTA Annual Meeting will continue its tradition of providing a private suite environment for NPTA members and suppliers. However, it recently added another dimension to its meeting — a high–level, high–impact keynote speaker.
Robert C. Tapella, the nation's 25th Public Printer, will address those who attend the meeting on Oct. 21–24 at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago. READ MORE

IP Reports Preliminary First Quarter 2008 Results; Higher Input Costs Offset Pricing Gains
International Paper recently reported preliminary first–quarter 2008 net earnings of $133 million ($0.31 per share) compared with net earnings of $327 million ($0.78 per share) in the 2007 fourth quarter and $434 million ($0.97 per share) in the first quarter of 2007. Amounts in all periods include special items, including a net after–tax gain in the first quarter of 2007 of $264 million ($0.59 per share) from sales and exchanges of businesses. READ MORE
Fox River Paper Mill Up for Auction
Stuart B. Millner & Associates, a company that specializes in the liquidation and auction of surplus assets, said that it has been hired by Neenah Paper Inc. of Alpharetta, Ga., to manage the closure of its Fox River Paper mill in Urbana, Ohio.
