Compensation data from NPTA's paper merchant survey

Learn how your compensation package compares to other paper distributors

Hiring and retaining good employees is essential to the profitability of your business, especially in today's economy. To achieve that goal, you must consider your overall employee compensation plan— not just your pay scales, but your benefits program as well — in comparison to other paper distribution firms.

To help you evaluate your situation, NPTA has made the 2014 Employee Compensation Study conducted by Profit Planning Group available to NPTA members. Approximately 1,000 firms in more than 30 distribution lines of trade participated. The 2014 results are now available.

The value of these survey results to your organization is threefold:

  1. The results help you determine where your compensation plan stands, not only within the industry, but also compared to other companies in distribution.
  2. The data helps NPTA protect your interests by responding to legislative proposals regarding government-mandated health and leave benefits for employees.
  3. The information helps companies that must prove their compensation is "reasonable" within the constraints of the Internal Revenue Code.

  • Survey Participants (Distributors Only): $250 processing fee
  • Non-Participants (Member Distributors, Member Suppliers and Member Service Providers Only): $500
  • Non-Members: $1,000
